Fancy Dress Parade

If you can see your picture here, you must have braved the biting wind on Easter Sunday to join the parade! (Though the “Milky Bar Kid” never took her coat off!)

It was good to see members of the community coming out to watch the parade, so I think we’ll have to do it again next year! (But let’s hope it’s a better day!)

Hack to the Gap

We needed something to cheer us up after a long, gloomy winter, and this was it! Several riders gathered to head across Cata to the Gap. When we reached it, we headed bravely across on to Tresness Beach, believing that the dumes would shelter us from the brisk, biting wind. But we were wrong!

Just the same, we had a pleasant ride to lift our spirits after a miserable winter.

The North End Ride

If you came across a Saddle Club member sometime about last Tuesday hobbling stiffly around like a cross between your great-granny and John Wayne, it’s safe to assume they were one of the adventurers who went on “the North End Ride”.

There was a rumour going round that we rode 22miles - and by Monday, that figure had grown to 24! However, much as it may have FELT like at least 24 by the time we got home, I can assure you that the Memorial to the Scout and Guide hut and back, via Crudy (both ways) and Scuthvie Bay (one way) is just 14.5 miles (Those of us that rode from Sparrowhall rode 18 miles!)

Saddle Club Library

This is made up of books lent by members as well as some picked by members to be bought from a book club that the Club joined for a while. The books are kept in the school library, high on the right as you go through to the school. They are borrowed in the same way as other library books.

Video / DVD library.

These are kept at Sparrowhall and many are films or documentaries recorded from the TV, although the Club has bought some, such as the Pony Club series and “If Wishes were Horses”. A list is available from me (Jean). If you have any you’d be willing to add to the list (but to keep at your own house), let me know.
